Middle/High School Youth Ministries

ABUMC is a friendly, open, safe place where you are welcome, no matter where you are on your faith journey or if you have yet to begin it.

Separate Sunday School classes are offered for middle and high school youth, where students are challenged with relevant subjects, interesting discussion, attention-getting videos, and faith-building in a relaxed atmosphere.

Opportunities exist to engage in the worship experience, serve the community, be with friends, and be yourself.

Words of Wisdom

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

30 Hour Famine

Nearly a billion people go hungry every day.  Every day hunger kills as many as 11,000 kids under age five.

March 23rd & 24th, twelve of us went without food for 30 hours.  We made a small sacrifice in order to help those who have no choice but to go hungry.  Our group raised over $2,700 in pledges!  Thank you to everyone who encouraged us with your prayers and your pledges.  YOU have made a difference!

High School Youth Group

Our 9th-12th grade youth meet from 6:30-8:00 p.m. bi-weekly on Sunday evenings.  During our time together we explore the Bible, share our thoughts, play outrageous games, and step away from our hectic lives for just a bit!  Anyone is welcome; it is not necessary to be a member of ABUMC to join us.

Mission Trips!

Each summer our middle and high school youth load up in vans and depart for parts unknown to spread Christ's message of kindness and service, to work hard, make new friends, and change lives.

In 2012 the middle school group will travel to Cincinnati, OH, while the high school group will head to Benton Harbor, MI.  Days will be filled with work, fun, worship, music, and cool activities.

Evergreen

We recently took a group of seven high school kids to Evergreen Retirement Community on a sunny Sunday afternoon.  For an hour we sat and talked and played Yahtzee with some of the residents.  What a blessing that visit turned out to be, not only for the residents, but for all of us!
