Newcomer/FAQ

Newcomers Welcome

The goal of Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church is for you as a newcomer to be connected with Christ.  We invite you to get involved with your gifts, skills, and interests and find a place of connection and spiritual growth with our congregation.

We offer many opportunities to become involved.  Some of these include Wednesday Night Alive, youth mission trips, United Methodist Women, Nativity Collection, various choirs for all ages, adult classes, hospitality team, men's prayer breakfast, and teaching Sunday School.

We invite you to our worship services on Sunday mornings.  The traditional service is at 8:15.  Our contemporary service is at 9:30.  Sunday School for all ages is at 9:30 and our other traditional service is at 10:45.

If you have any questions, please contact Linda Lemkuil, the Newcomer Coordinator at newcomer@abumc.org.

Where do I park?

- There is a parking lot adjacent to the building that is accessible off of New York Avenue. Handicapped parking is available in our lot. Additional parking is available on New York Avenue and Algoma Boulevard. There is also parking available in the Read School parking lot off of Algoma Boulevard.

Where do I enter the building?

- Enter the doors off the parking lot and you will be in the front entryway. Head to your right and through the fellowship hall to get into the sanctuary.

What should I wear?

- Whatever you feel comfortable in. You will see people in jeans. You will also see women in dresses and men in a sports coat with a tie. What you wear is not important. Your presence is what matters. The building is air-conditioned during the warm weather.

How do I meet new people?

- Following every service, there is a coffee time in the fellowship hall.  Lemonade, coffee, and cookies are provided.  We also encourage everyone to wear a name tag.
